Our Mission
English is a powerful language that can change someone's life.
As Brazilians, we were extremely fortunate to have the chance to move to the United States and learn English fluently. This is not the case for most girls, so we want to give this opportunity to learn the language to those who would probably never have the chance.
Brazilian women living in poverty need the chance to change their lives and those of future generations. They have no less potential than everyone else, the only difference being that they were not given the opportunity to learn. Through She Speaks! we want to change that by teaching these girls English. This will allow them to learn, grow, and prosper in the business world.
How Our Program Works
The Interview Process
In the interview process, we assess language proficiency, interests, and time availability to find the perfect match for students and teachers.
Class Scheduling
As soon as we find the student and the teacher that will work well together, we put them in contact and they decide a day and time that works for both of them. Classes last 45 minutes once a week for a total of 3 months.
Starting the Classes
Our classes are very informal, so teachers don't need to spend hours preparing. They can chat about everyday things and also look at our resources for more ideas.
